Blogs are known to be live content. But once you have written an entry, would a visitor expect it to change anytime? Is written text taboo or would it be OK to edit it later?
I often correct spelling mistakes after I submitted an entry. But sometimes I read a text hours after publishing it and want to change whole sentences or paragraphs. And sometimes I really do. May it be to replace dumb phrases with better sounding ones (that's the case with german entries - I seldom recognize bad english as such) or just to add or correct some facts that didn't come into my mind at the writing time.
Do you think that's OK or am I violating some kind of unwritten codex when I retouch published words? I want to have a clean archive for later research and to serve search engines and theier users with correct content. On the other hand I would hesitate to change the tenor of an entry since I don't want to confuse my adored readers.
Maybe it's best practice to mark later additions as such like this:
Update: I have changed my mind.
